The Association of Marine Technicians (AMTECH) and LEHR Incorporated of Los Angeles,
California agreed on developing a service and technical training relationship to service LEHR
propane outboard motors. Joseph J. De Marco, AMTECH President and Captain Bernardo J.
Herzer, Founder and CEO of LEHR Incorporated, met at the AMTECH annual National Marine
Service Expo on January 16 and 17 in Ormond Beach, FL.
Captain Herzer was the keynote speaker at the annual AMTECH dinner and discussed the
changes in alternative fuel for maritime use. Captain Herzer explained the importance of
maintaining the ecological balance of the waterways and how LEHR is making positive changes
with its propane outboard engines as an alternate fuel to ethanol gasoline. AMTECH instructors
will be providing technical training for LEHR as part of its field training program. AMTECH
members were invited to become service-only providers for LEHR outboard customers, and
although AMTECH does not directly endorse any product line, it will encourage LEHR to contact
AMTECH members who are interested in becoming selling dealers for LEHR outboards.
“I am very excited about this partnership with LEHR. AMTECH recognizes the growth potential of propane as a marine fuel and is excited to work with LEHR to help train new service technicians in this important technology. I believe we can help advance the boating experience through this cooperative effort.” Joe De Marco said.
