WASHINGTON (WUSA) — How much did you pay for gas the last time you filled up? Probably a bunch, and the cost is only going up.

Thursday morning, AAA says gas prices in the DC Metro area average $3.67 a gallon for regular grade. That’s up 4 cents in a week — and 21 cents a month. It’s six cents more than the national average.

Captain Bernardo Herzer is the CEO of LEHR, an environmentally friendly technology firm in California. He says cutting our dependency on foreign oil is more important now than ever.
